How To Get Vex Mythoclast Catalyst

Destiny 2 Vex Mythoclast: Drop location and how to get the Catalyst explained

How to get - and upgrade - the Exotic from Vault of Glass.

Destiny 2's Vex Mythoclast is an Exotic which has made its return to Destiny 2.

This unique fusion rifle - with a firing rate closer to a scout rifle than the lengthy charge we're used to from this weapon class - led to some players claim it was "unfair" and "overpowered" in the original Destiny.

Debuting in Destiny 2 during May 2021 alongside the likes of Fatebringer, the Vex Mythoclast is a random drop within the Vault of Glass, and its Vex Mythoclast Catalyst requiring solving a series of puzzles to unlock - with this page explaining how it all works.

What to expect from Beyond Light's new Exotics and gear.

How to get Vex Mythoclast in Destiny 2

As with the original Destiny, the Vex Mythoclast is tied to the Vault of Glass raid - however unlike the original, doesn't require playing at a higher difficulty to unlock.

The Vex Mythoclast in Destiny 2 has a chance of dropping after the final encounter in Vault of Glass. Specifically, once you have defeated Atheon, it's possible the Vex Mythoclast can be part of that encounter's loot pool. Either the regular version of the raid or Challenge Mode will do.

?BREAKING: Vex Mythoclast is dropping from the final Atheon encounter and completing the Vault of Glass raid. The drop rate is very low!?

Remember, as with any raid loot, nothing is guaranteed - and instead you have to rely on drop rates. The Vex Mythoclast drop rate is currently unknown, but expect it to be similar to Exotics which also dropped in the final encounters of a raid, such as Deep Stone Crypt's Eyes on Tomorrow. (In other words - quite low.)

It's currently unknown if there is 'bad luck protection' for Vex Mythoclast drops - which means if it doesn't drop after so many encounters, there is a system to ensure you'll get it eventually.

This year's Festival of the Lost has arrived - which includes the Book of the Forgotten and Jurassic Green to unlock. Elsewhere in Season of the Lost, there are new Exotics such as the Ager's Scepter and the long-awaited arrival of crossplay. New activities include the Wayfinders Voyage, the Astral Alignment activity and finding Atlas Skew, Trivial Mystery, Enigmatic Mystery, Ascendant Mystery, Data Cache, Parallax Trajectory and Ascendant Anchor locations. Elsewhere, we've seen new Nightfall weapons such as the Uzume RR4, Plug One.1 and Hung Jury SR4. Other recent new features include transmog and materials Synthstrand, Synthcord and Synthweave, the Splicer Gauntlet and Decrypted Data used to upgrade it.

How to get the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst in Destiny 2

As with most Exotics, there is a Catalyst to unlock which further boosts the power of the Vex Mythoclast.

As well as the usual additions of generating Orbs and displaying a kill tracker, the Catalyst will see "higher stacks of Overcharge increase stability".

To unlock the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst, you must shoot five plates within the Vault of Glass raid with the weapon itself. Once the plate has been shot, a number of Oracles will appear nearby. Destroy all of these, and the final plate will see the Catalyst drop.

As for the plate locations themselves, it's easier watched than explained since each plate generates an increasing number of oracles in hard to find locations (the first plate has three, the second plate has four, and so on).

See Luckyy 10p on YouTube for an example of how to complete each stage of puzzle:

Between unlocking the Vex Mythoclast in the first place, and re-running the raid to find all bonus Oracle locations for the Catalyst, this will give you plenty of incentives to re-run Vault of Glass beyond earning Pinnacle gear. And, if you needed another - remember Fatebringer has also made its comeback to Destiny 2.
